ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will hold a summer camp for the aspiring students to teach them basics of French language from July 18.
Accordingly, it has invited applications for children aged between 6-19 years for their registration in ‘French Language Summer Camp’. It will be open for all the children living in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
Last date for registration is July 15 while classes will start on July 18. Various fun-based activities like games, drawings, paintings, role plays, cooking and singing will be arranged as tools to teach the language in simplest possible way.
The camp will be arranged as per the directives of AIOU Vice Chancellor (VC) Shahid Siddiqui to engage children in healthy and knowledge-based activities during their summer vacations.
“The teaching of foreign languages is important and the university wished that the children should get the opportunity to learn the language which is already being taught through its regular academic programme,” said the VC.
The university is also working on a plan to start Chinese language classes and hopes to keep it available annually.
Admission forms for joining the camp could be obtained from the university’s French Department at its main campus. Registration fee is Rs 5,000. However, there would be 50% fee concession for the children of university’s employees.
The interested children have been advised to pay the fee in the AIOU’s designated MCB, National Bank, Allied Bank and First Women Bank branches and send the form to the Department of French along with the Challan copy (Original).
