LAHORE: A three-year-old girl was kidnapped from the city’s Anarkali area on Monday while three children abducted from different areas earlier were recovered on Sunday.
According to her parents, three year-old Jannat Hayat was taken along by her family for shopping in Anarkali when she suddenly disappeared. A case was filed at the Old Anarkali Police Station upon the father’s request.
On the other hand a ten-year-old girl, who was reported kidnapped earlier from Mughalpura area on May 25, was recovered from Shikarpur, Sindh. Police stated that the girl who was identified as Shahida, was disabled and was kidnapped by her relatives so that they could use her for begging.
Two other children, Noor Fatima and Haider, who went missing on Sunday evening from Lahore’s Gulberg and Samanabad areas, were also found on Monday. Both children were found from the city’s Defence area during a police patrol.
According to the police, many children have been recovered from bus stands, railways stations and shrines in different cities yet still there are many who are still missing.
The Supreme Court is currently hearing a suo moto case of the rise in the incidents of kidnapping of children in Punjab, since 652 children from all over the province have been reported missing.
