LAHORE: The party members close to ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif somehow second the views of former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan that Shehbaz Sharif wouldn’t be able to work freely even after being elected as the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) president.
On Saturday, in an interview with a private TV channel, Nisar declared his feelings that Punjab Chief Minister and now elected president of PML-N, Shehbaz Sharif would not be allowed to work according to his will. He should be provided the space he needs so he can work truly and might make many improvements, the party stalwart said.
He was also well-informed on Shehbaz’s return to Pakistan from London. Answering a question, he said that there were misunderstandings regarding Shehbaz’s stay in London.
He also told the media that Shehbaz was in London for his treatment and would return to Pakistan on Sunday.
According to Express Tribune, the PML-N leaders made clear that Shehbaz was elected to fill the gap after Nawaz Sharif was disqualified. Still the party policy was set by their Quaid Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz would manage the daily routine affairs of the party.
Shehbaz Sharif will be provided full space and freedom to work, the party leaders said, adding that different approaches carried by the Sharif brothers did not mean there were differences in the party.
In our political party, leaders can have different opinions, they added.
Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafarul Haq was also contacted and he said there was no difference of opinion in the party leadership.
He also said that the party’s motto was to give respect to the vote. He also claimed that the apparent difference was just on the outside, but the party was one from the inside.
He did not comment on why there were different policy lines from the Nawaz camp and the Shehbaz camp but he said that party leadership’s policy will prevail.
Punjab government spokesperson Malik Muhammmad Ahmad Khan and Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah could not be reached for comments.
