KARACHI: Muhammad Zaryab, son of former Pakistan national cricketer Hanif Aamer, committed suicide on Tuesday over alleged non-s
election in U-19 squad.
According to Hanif, who represented Pakistan in 5 ODIs during the 1990s, Zaryab h
anged himself to death after he was deemed ‘average’ and ‘too old’ to be included in the national U-19 team.
“My son was pressurised, he was told he was average. The coaches’ behaviour towards him forced him to kill himself,
” said Hanif.
Zaryab, a first-year inte
rmediate student, last represented Karachi’s U-19 squad in a domestic tournament in Lahore.
He was, however, sent home by the administration citing an injury, which the deceased challenged but to no avail, the aggrieved father said.
Zaryab’s funeral would be held later today in Sindh’
;s provincial capital.
