ISLAMABAD: Justice and Democracy Party Chairman Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry approached the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) requesting details of the prime minister’s assets, a private TV channel reported.
In an application to the commission, he requested details of the prime minister’s assets from 2008 to 2015. “The prime minister has defied article 62 and 63 of the constitution by hiding his assets,” he wrote to the commission. The two articles of the constitution deal with basic good morals that are required for any person who holds office in the government and can be disqualified if he deceives the public.
Advocate Sheikh Ahsanuddin said that Iftikhar would file a request for the prime minister’s resignation in the court after receiving details of the assets. On the other hand, Prime Minister Nawaz reached the Parliament House to answer questions of the opposition on the Panama Papers. On Monday morning, the consultative meeting of the ruling alliance was held under the chairmanship of the prime minister.
